Neptune in the Houses...
Some things are good and bad simultaneously. Neptune's influence is evidence of this. The house containing Neptune in a natal chart will have a loosening of the rules and a sense of disorder to it. As boundaries are clouded so is the protocol. With Neptune in a house, right and wrong become diffused into a collage of situational discrepancies. Nothing is final and nothing is clear. You may feel that you get dumped on or taken advantage of in the house where Neptune falls in your natal chart. This phenomenon represents a strength and a weakness in Neptune. The planet is willing to make sacrifices for others which is a strength that comes from this mature, universal planet; however, less mature people out in the world often see this as a weakness and an opportunity to take advantage of the Neptune person.
At its weakest, Neptune is caught in a perpetual state of escapism. Constantly taking the easiest route, Neptune can fall victim to laziness or even complete hedonism. This is Neptune's Achilles' heel. If uninspired or ignored, Neptune will resort to this behavior. Use the natal chart generator

Neptune in the 1st House...
A blur between the chart holder and the outside world in created with Neptune in the first house. This person is likely to talk in circles and it is often difficult to find their point in a conversation. They can change topics frequently and ramble sometimes in seemingly nonsensical ways. Yet, despite this scattered tendency in their verbal communication, they have a keen sense of the emotional undercurrents present in interactions with people. A sensitivity to unspoken forms of communication including body language is found with a first-house Neptune. These people want to see the world in the best light possible which can cause a disconnect from reality. This, combined with a tendency to follow the path of least resistance in interactions with the world, creates a personality which is somewhat elusive.
Neptune in the 2nd House...
Neptune in the second house may want to pretend that we do not live a material world. The responsibility of making money and doing to the work to maintain material objects are things Neptune wants to ignore. In the best scenario the chart holder with Neptune in their second house is able to make a living doing something artistic, spiritual, or at least people and feeling related. If the chart holder can focus on the joy of a job rather than the responsibility of having to earn a living, Neptune is much happier.

Neptune in the 3rd House...Neptune in the third house can bring as much cloudy confusion here as it can bring brilliance. Like Uranus and Jupiter, Neptune needs freedom. But unlike Jupiter and Uranus, Neptune rarely uses it constructively. Sliding out of responsibilities or rationalizing them away are both common pitfalls of Neptune. In the house of early education, these tendencies can cause irresponsible behavior school, ranging from daydreaming rather than listening to outright truancy. Neptune in the third house is at its best if it is allowed to grow and experience on its own timetable and with loads of freedom. It can then lend its romantic, compassionate and unconditionally accepting feel to the third house which can lead to creative works of literature and art. Verbal communication is often clouded with a third-house Neptune as the planet doesn't think in terms of facts which are the meat of the third house. Rather Neptune thinks with feelings and would prefer to speak with these feelings in place of words. This creates a discordance between feelings and their expression in words which can come across as dishonesty or muddled meanings.
Neptune in the 4th House...Emotional undercurrents of suffering are present in the childhood of the chart holder with Neptune in the fourth house. It could be any family member including the chart holder who is seen as the one enduring the suffering. There is also one family member who is a scapegoat and who receives the blame for the painful situation. Another family member is seen as a golden family member and is exempt from the pain. The perception of the roles are different from person to person, but the chart holder will feel the dynamic deeply. There is often one parent who has an addiction, usually drinking, and there is a feeling that this person wants to escape from the family.

Even with all of the confusing, unconscious suffering and blame, there is an overall feeling of compassion in the family and there is often a person or people who are willing to suffer for the other family members. Family heritage may be difficult to trace, but there is a comfort found in learning from whatever information is available. In adulthood, the chart holder is compassionate toward their family and willing to sacrifice for them.
Neptune in the 5th House...
A true love of the arts comes with a fifth-house Neptune. Whether the chart holder is appreciating the art or creating it, it is an important part of the chart holder's life. However these chart holders are often artistically talented. Gentle in romance, a fifth-house Neptune appreciates the sentiments of romantic gestures. Beautiful scenery, music, or poetry can easily lure this chart holder into a romantic encounter. These chart holders can easily be swept off their feet and will happily overlook faults in their partner while dating. Keep in mind however that regardless of how tempted a fifth-house Neptune becomes, they will still require freedom in their love life. They won't demand freedom. Instead, they will subtly take it by spacing out dates or forgetting to return a phone call now and then. Children come easily with a fifth-house Neptune and they are raised to appreciate the beauty in life.
Neptune in the 6th House...
In the sixth house, Neptune will always be the one serving and will never be the one served. As the planet of compassion and sacrifice, Neptune can't stop itself from serving others when it is located in the sixth house. Due to the same unexplainable, mystical force that allows Jupiter to receive service in the sixth house, Neptune always has to give service. This is the "fate" of astrology. Neptune in the sixth house can be a position of suffering if this fate is not interpreted by the chart holder in its best light. If the service given is seen as compassionate and loving, Neptune can experience joy in the sixth house. If it is seen by the chart holder as a lifetime of unwilling slavery to others, it causes pain. Neptune is the most sensitive of the planets and feels things so deeply that much of it is unconscious. In the sixth house, these feelings affect the physical body on an unconscious level. Neptune's boundaries are always blurred, and so with Neptune in the sixth house, the boundaries between the emotional and physical are blurred. Any stress from service, work and relating to the world is immediately felt physically by the chart holder with the sixth-house Neptune. These chart holders need to keep perspectives clear and remain unclouded by the stress of physical world in order to assure their own physical health.
Neptune in the 7th House...
Unclear boundaries are the hallmark of a seventh-house Neptune. Often the reasons behind any one-to-relationship are unclear. The rules about intimacy are cloudy. The communication is often foggy, and expectations are distorted. Often, there is one person who serves the other in relationships with a seventh-house Neptune. One person may also believe that they constantly have to sacrifice for the other. Interactions can feel lopsided with one person feeling used. However, a seventh-house Neptune chart holder can offer true compassion in relationships. Real emotion is valued and honored. Feelings are real for these chart holders. They are never discarded as trivial or unnecessary. Rather these chart holders can provide empathy in relationships and care that is driven by love rather than duty. Seventh-house Neptune people or people with Pisces on their descendant are often attracted to Pisces-like people who are sensitive and compassionate.
Neptune in the 8th House...Blurred lines in intimate relationships are found when Neptune is in the eighth house. The rules surrounding what's given and received in the relationships are not clear and abuse is common with Neptune as the victim. In the extreme cases, this can mean sexual abuse or it can simply indicate a tendency to allow oneself to give without setting any boundaries. Neptune is sensitive, compassionate an empathetic. It wants to give and it honestly expects nothing in return, setting itself up for abusive situations. However, Neptune is also skilled at reading between the lines and understanding the unspoken communication of the soul. At some point, this gives Neptune the insight to realize when it's time to defend itself because the scales have tipped beyond what is helpful for either party in the relationship. Neptune needs to learn to take from relationships as much as it gives. Part of this unwillingness to take comes from Neptune's need for freedom. By taking, we create obligation. Realizing this, Neptune knows it keeps its freedom by giving, but loses it by taking. Confusion and messiness regarding taxes and monetary obligations to others are common with an eighth-house Neptune because the planet prefers to pretend it lives a world without structure and rules.

Neptune in the 9th House...
Enigmatic in their ideas and ways of conveying them, chart holders with Neptune in the ninth house don't want to be pigeonholed into any set ways of thinking or interpreting the world. Neptune here is wide open to varying philosophies and cultures. Chart holders with this position aren't judgmental about cultures which differ from their own. Rather they are often intrigued and prefer to learn about them through experience and feelings rather than the written word. Caution should be heeded, however, because Neptune can be fall into the trap of being the victim and in the ninth house there is a lot of uncharted and unfamiliar territory being explored in which Neptune can unknowingly be duped or used.
Neptune in the 10th House...
Who really knows what's going on with these mysterious chart holders? Many of them aren't sure themselves. They often see their professional lives and ability to succeed as surreal, and although they can achieve a great deal, they don't relish the spotlight or commitments. They tend to waiver and wander without ever really committing to any course of action that will lead them to success and public recognition. Deciding on a career and sticking with it can be incredibly difficult for those with Neptune in their tenth house. A need for freedom and a tendency toward escapism are hallmarks for Neptune. So, committing to only one particular path to success eliminates all of the other options in life which takes away freedom and stifles Neptune's need to escape. It also creates a situation where the chart holder has no more excuses for not succeeding other than their own weaknesses putting them on the spot and exposing their faults. Neptune prefers to remain nebulous and to apply their talents when they feel they can do the most good rather than working towards success only for the sake of success itself. Careers involving feelings, caring, art or style are naturals for a tenth-house Neptune. These careers are a good fit for tenth-house Neptune people who have creative, intuitive, feeling and caring talents that cannot be turned on or off on demand.
Neptune in the 11th House...Those with Neptune in the eleventh house can find it difficult to determine where their individuality ends and the group begins. They should be beware of getting swept into group movements because it's easier than finding their own way and it makes them feel accepted. They can be drawn into the compassion the group seems to offer. Yet, when the group fails to pull them up from every crises they encounter, they feel disappointed and disillusioned. They enjoy getting lost in the group, but should remember that the group has its own energy and mission which is separate from any individual. Neptune, having a dual nature, is also a master of understanding this group energy. Even when they are enjoying the non-personal abyss of being lost in the group, these people have an uncanny ability to see hidden agendas in the social missions and picking out conspiracies in group movements. These chart holders understand the relationship between the individual and society and are able to feel compassion towards those who get lost in the middle.
Neptune in the 12th House...Daydreams, fantasies and diffuse ego boundaries stem from a twelfth-house Neptune. These people can ride the line between what's real and what's imagination, going back and forth between the two at will. Growing up as children they are constantly told to wake up and pay attention, to stop drifting. Yet even as children, they are the ones who can truly listen to and empathize with family members in crisis without judging. But when everyone is doing well and no one in the family is in crisis, they are the ones criticized for their lack of focus and their fluid nature that is characterized by others as weak. People who are flexible rather than rigid, or compassionate rather than demanding, may appear weak. However, there is great strength in these qualities even though it may be difficult to understand. Perhaps it is only the people in crisis who are in need of their compassion who see their strength. Those who are not in need may actually victimize the twelfth-house Neptune chart holders. They seem like easy targets and are often pigeonholed as lazy and untrustworthy. The chart holder may slip away into the oblivion of mind altering substances or physically remove themselves from people by living in solitude or in a small group of unattached people where they can have space and live in their imaginations. At worst, this leads to a break with reality and detached, delusional behavior representing the unconscious' need to be recognized and appreciated can cause the chart holder to lash out at others in an attempt to gain recognition and control. At best, great artistic talent can come from this scenario. Their pain and their ability to escape into their imagination combine to make a creative personality.
