Self-expression is the essence of the fifth house. The ability to let loose and play with the enthusiasm, creativity and the freedom of a child is the fifth house in its truest form. It is the first relationship house, and so the ego and personality that were developed in the personal houses are presented to others through relationships in the fifth house. Much of this self-expression is experienced through romantic relationships, and through having and raising children. Part of the courage needed for full self-expression in art or play is the ability to be criticized by others when what is created isn't accepted by them. Overcoming this risk of criticism, and creating anyway in a way that is personally sincere is the challenge of the fifth house. In this way, the fifth house acts as a mirror to the chart holder. Every experience is reflected back through other people which enables the chart holder to grow and develop. The ability to fully experience fun comes from a person's ability to know and accept themselves and how they affect others. Saturn in the fifth house is likely to take dating seriously rather than skipping from partner to partner. Parenthood is taken seriously also, and it is assumed that children will be responsible. In time, many fifth-house Saturns gain confidence in self-expression and do become skilled at an art. Because they take criticism seriously, these chart holders can develop artistic abilities later in life after they have honed their skills.
Uranus in the 5th House...Authentic self-expression is the gift of Uranus in the fifth house. Uranus is never phony, so the chart holder with a fifth-house Uranus is able to create authentic self-representations through art.
