The Raw Personality...

Raw Signs...Concerned with Personal Satisfaction

Referred to as raw because they don't filter their thoughts and actions through the sieve of the public opinion, the raw signs feel, behave and think in a pure manner. They don't see themselves through the eyes of other people and adapt themselves for the sake of being proper or to be accepted as appropriate in public. Because raw signs don't cloud themselves with concerns about social protocol, they have a blatant manner that lacks subtlety. Their intentions and reactions are obvious.

If most of the signs in your chart are in the raw signs, including at least your sun or moon, you are primarily focused on your own personal needs. This doesn't mean you are selfish. It means you are simply more concerned with your private life rather than your public life. You care more about your own happiness than about how other people may judge you.

The Polished Personality...

Polished Signs...Concerned with Public Image

The polished signs are keenly aware of how other people see them and choose their words and behavior according to the impression they want to make. For the polished signs, it's all about image. They still express their opinions and do the things they want to do, but they are more careful than the raw signs about how they say and do them. According to the individual and the other signs in their chart, some are better at creating a polished appearance than others. Nonetheless, being seen as polished is their goal. At times, the polished signs seem as arrogant or fake, but they are always striving appear suave, confident and mature.

A lot Depends on the Planet or Point in your Chart...

A person with a polished rising sign will seem very polished on the outside, but inside they may be raw. They could still have a raw moon or sun sign. The opposite is also true. A person with a raw rising sign may initially appear raw, but they may have a polished sun or moon that is disguised by that raw rising sign. Whether a person seems raw or polished at various times and in certain situations has everything to do with the arrangement of raw and polished signs in their chart.

The Northern & Southern Hemispheres tell the story...

The first six signs of the zodiac make up the northern hemisphere and consist of the raw signs. They are the least mature of the signs in the story of the zodiac as an evolution in development. Symbolically encompassing the period of development between birth and adulthood, they represent the development of our personal and private selves.

The polished signs make up the last six signs and constitute the southern hemisphere. These signs represent how we develop in relation to the public, outside world. The last six signs have symbollically completed their private, inner self-development. They have matured beyond the private world and exist in the public world, giving them a polished appearance. Their awareness of the public realm of the life, makes them more concerned with the impression they make on others than the first six signs, who are more concerned with their personal life.
