Mars in Astrology...
Mars and sexuality...Representing the element of male sexuality in human nature, Mars is the pursuer. By sign, house and aspects it will describe how you pursue your mate. Your style of flirting and level of desire for sexual conquest are found in Mars. Are you aggressive about seducing your mate? Mars in Leo or Aries would demonstrate this quality. Do you tend to wait for the other person to make the first move? A Mars in Virgo or Pisces may be found in your natal chart. Once you have entered into a relationship, Mars will show what you offer to your partner in your sexual relationships and your sexual style. A Mars in Taurus will pursue the physical sensuality of sex, while a Mars in Scorpio will play with the power dynamic. Sexual relationships involve giving and receiving, and we all have both elements in our Mars and our Venus. Mars represents the giving portion of the relationship while Venus represents the receiving portion.
Mars is our will...To a large extent our sense of being alive and being an individual comes from the effect we have on the world. First we must desire to have the effect, then we must put forth effort to make an effect. This desire to have an effect can be described as our "will". Therefore astrologically, our Mars represents our yearning to be an individual person who makes a difference simply because we are a unique person who affects the world in a unique way. Mars also goes a long way to keep us on track and make a full effect on the world. It supplies stamina and courage to keep going. This is really the same thing as "will power" which is the ability to set a course of action and see it through.
Mars and anger...Anger is useful and necessary. Obviously it can also cause harm, and taken too far, is counterproductive. But healthy, restrained and appropriate anger is useful. Sometimes a point is better made with the force of some anger behind it. Sometimes needed change simply doesn't occur until people get angry about a situation. A healthy Mars in a natal chart is able to express anger in a useful way and make statements and changes that wouldn't have the desired effects without it. However, an unhealthy Mars with difficult aspects can express anger which is out of proportion to the given situation or is unnecessary as a catalyst for change. An unhealthy Mars is selfish. Mars is notorious for selfish anger because anger is difficult to control and Mars is not a mature planet. It is difficult to balance a planet's need to exert the will of individual, and at the same time, keep the effect it is having on everyone else equally in mind. For this reason, the power of Mars is most useful when it is used in a restrained and careful fashion. Although this is difficult, the planet's ability to have an effect and achieve goals is greatly accelerated when this ability is honed. Mars is powerful, but must be handled with care.
