Aquarius Traits & Personality...

Detached is the word to use when describing an Aquarius. All air signs have an ability to detach on some level, but this is Aquarius' forte. It is a skill they are born with and it defines them. Their ability to separate themselves on an emotional level from people and situations is amazing and, frankly, can be disturbing to some people, mostly water signs who can't detach at all.

For the most part, Aquarius just doesn't buy into the emotional drama or sensitivities that bog down a lot of other signs. They simply don't feel many of the emotions that other signs feel in the first place. Of course, Aquarius does have emotions and feelings and there are events and loved ones that will trigger strong emotions in any Aquarius.

This is unavoidable, but as the fixed, air sign of the zodiac, Aquarius is able to retain a sense of stability in the emotional realm and can control and even discard emotions if the decision is made to do so. As a thinking, intellectual, air sign, emotions can be rationalized and thought through. If the emotion is deemed unnecessary or has a hampering effect, the Aquarius can essentially decide the emotion no longer exists. Much of this occurs unconsciously as it is simply their nature. But there are definitely times when a struggle will ensue until the emotion is discarded.

As a fixed, air sign and the second to last sign of the zodiac, Aquarius holds a lot of cards. They have the wisdom that comes from being the second to last sign, only undercut in this competition by Pisces which is last. But unlike Pisces, they are an air sign and therefore free from the bondage of emotion. And being fixed endows them with the patience and resolve to achieve any dream they choose. In fact, many Aquarians do have a strong need to contribute to society in some way. As the water bearer, they know they have something to give to the world. Their ability to operate flawlessly in groups of people is an Aquarius trait which is handy in their mission to share their talents with the world. In fact, even though they are not a leader sign by astrological category, when operating in a group, they have no problem assuming a leadership position. A confidence in their knowledge of what is right and wrong in the world and an indifference to the opinions of others makes them natural group leaders.

At times, this assumed knowledge of right and wrong combines with their leadership ability and indifference to the opinions of others, and turns into an Aquarius on a mission to change the world or, sometimes, just your world. More often than not they will be correct and will end up making a helpful contribution to the world or your life. But Aquarians are real people who can be wrong at times even if they are convinced that they are right and know what is best for you. And be patient, Aquarius can be a bit stubborn in their views. But never fear, Aquarians are rational and do not disregard the opinions of others, they will absolutely take your argument, opinion and whatever input you have into strong consideration. They will listen to you and will most likely have no problem understanding what you are saying.

They won't fold under your input and they won't let your input tarnish their view, but they aren't adverse to changing their mind if their calculations change based on your statements or opinions. It won't be an easy sale though. You will have to patiently argue your case and will need to provide strong evidence in the form of real facts or very strong logic. However, if this is done successfully, the Aquarius will change their course, and remember, they were only trying to do what is right for you and the world in the first place.

Your typical Aquarius is easy going, nonjudgmental and really not too hung up on any particular missions or opinions. They make great friends and are able to mix well with a wide variety of people. They really enjoy the social arena, especially sampling different personalities and will not judge the eccentrics. Don't worry about offending them and feel free to discuss edgy topics. It's not that you will necessarily change their opinion, but they will be happy to discuss anything and because they are so sure of themselves, and don't let their emotions get the better of them, their is very little risk of offending them. They are truly one of the easiest signs to get along with and even when they seem a little emotionally distant, rest assured, they are always looking out for you.
